TRAVEL TIPS: SIMFEROPOL
Simferopol is not a resort place. There is no Seashore. And
it is why there less night clubs and restaurants compared with Yalta, for example.
But Simferopol is the capital of Crimea and it is why there are many things to see. If you
want to walk with a good friend - you shold go to a big Gagarin's park. You will enjoy the
small lakes, nice nature. During a holiday this park is most popular place for people to
celebrate. There is a new restaurant "Chistie Prudi" (The clean lakes) at the
park with a good Armenian food. There is an eternal flame on a grave of unknown soldier.
If you are strong enough, you can go from the eternal flame up along the Salgir River
about 6 km. It is very nice walking among the trees and bushes, you will past downtown,
Hotel "Ukraine", central city park, hotel "Moscow" and reach
another big park "Salgirka". This park is very old, from the time when
Simferopol was founded. There is a house of Vorontsov where he was going to stay per night
on the way to Alupka, and there is Crimean National University. There are two museums
in Simfropol: Crimean ethnic museum (Gogolya street) and Crimean Art museum (Karla
Libknehta street). There are three theaters: Russian, Ukrainian and Tatar.
There are many restauranst and cafes in downtown. Several of them accept a credit card.
If you need Internet access you will find several Internet cafes
on the streets, but if you want really good access - go to Gogolya street 26, 3th floor to
a small Internet club of CRIS ISP.
There are several markets in Simferopol and probably you would be
interested to visit them. Go to Central market, it is really huge. You could find
anything you need on this market, food and goods.
There are several ATM machines you could find in downtown, easy to find a booking office
of Russian theater with the machine in it and another beside UMC mobile office. The second
ATM set outside the building so you can use it any time of a day.
