TRAVEL TIPS: YALTA
Because Yalta is the most famous city in Crimea, many
people come to Crimea with main wish to visit it. So, most common way to get there is
direct way from Simferopol. There is a highway built in 1962 for trolleybus. It is longest
in the World trolleybus road which goes over the mountains. You will pass a valley with
many villages, last one is Perevalnoe. There are many cafes and restaurants on both sides
of the road. If you decided to stop for a lunch, it would
be better to choose from ones behind Perevalnoe - several of them serve a food outside and
you will like it better.
If your destination is hotel Yalta you should turn right on the Massandra
bridge, before Yalta and go according the road signs.
On the way from Sevastopol you should definately stop on Laspy Pass - a point
which hard to miss, because there is a square with a Chapel and cafes and parking places.
It is popular place for wedding parties of Sevastopol people so if you will get
there on Friday or Saturday afternoon you will certanly meet some weddings. Look down to
the sea, nice view should be pleasant for you. There are two Tatar cafes on
this place, but would be better to avoid to use them: the food is not best quality, but
the prices are double compared with many another cafes.
If you are hungry, go toward to Yalta 6 more kilometres and stop on the right side of the
road. Good food, not expensive, nice seaview.
When you pass Sarich Cape - southest point of Crimea, look to the left and
very soon you will see Gorbachev's summer house downhill. It is the house where he
was blocked in 1991.
If you want to stop and look down, make sure there is no traffic police on the road - it
not allow to stop at this point.
There are many restaurants and cafes in Yalta, some from them are expensive, some are very
expensive.
If you are looking for inexpensive food, go to street which start from
McDonnalds and goes along the sea to opposite side of the promenade. You will easy find a
cafe named Siren on the left side of the street. They serve simple dishes, quite good and
inexpensive. |
